About Azad

Too many campaigns write the strategy first and the policy last. We start with the policy.

आज़ादآزاد

Azad (adj.) Free. Liberated. Independent.

Rooted in South Asia’s struggle for independence from colonial rule, the name Azad reflects our belief that politics should expand freedom, opportunity, and dignity for all.

We reject the idea that progressive leaders must choose between bold policy and political viability. A clear agenda gives voters a reason to organize, gives officials a mandate to act, and gives the public a way to hold them accountable.

A big idea earns its place by passing four tests.

Fiscal
What does it cost, and who pays?
Legal
Does it stand up, and who has the authority?
Political
Will people organize and vote for it?
Operational
Can government actually deliver it?

What We Do

Four ways to turn conviction into a plan.

  1. Policy Platform Development

Agendas that speak to everyday struggles and tell people exactly what they stand to gain, written and ready to publish.

    • Issue prioritization
    • Original proposals
    • Comprehensive agendas
    • Implementation strategy
  2. Strategic Communications & Policy Translation

Complex policy turned into language voters remember, without losing the legal, fiscal, and political realities underneath it.

    • Op-eds
    • Talking points
    • Policy announcements
    • Website language
  3. Legislative & Executive Strategy

Support for moving an idea through government, from the first draft to the hearing room and beyond.

    • Bill development
    • Executive action
    • Coalition and stakeholder strategy
    • Hearing preparation
  4. Policy Research & Memoranda

Decision-ready analysis for leaders who need the trade-offs, the feasibility, and a clear recommendation.

    • Trade-off analysis
    • Feasibility assessments
    • Actionable recommendations

Our Approach

Imagine it. Test it. Deliver it.

  1. Imagine

We begin with the people you serve and what would change their lives, then push past what the conventional wisdom says is possible.

  2. Test

We pressure-test every idea against fiscal, legal, political, and operational reality, keeping what holds and rebuilding what doesn’t.

  3. Deliver

You get finished work: a platform, a memo, a bill, an op-ed, or a strategy your team can use right away.
